As part of our sponsoring activities, we have been supporting the “Stiftung Freunde des Theaters am Kirchplatz” (“Friends of the Theater am Kirchplatz Foundation”) in Schaan since 2008. As a regional venue, the Theater am Kirchplatz (TaK) is active on an international level. In addition to high-ranking guest performances and concerts with the best orchestras and soloists in the world, the theatre also offers its own productions as well as joint productions.
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Vaduz
Centrum Bank through the "Friends of the Theater am Kirchplatz Foundation" supported the performance of the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra in Vaduz on 14th November 2011. The concert, conducted by Charles Dutoit, offered an excellent experience. The world class orchestra was accompanied by the young Chinese pianist Yuja Wang, who is considered to be one of the greatest musical discoveries of the last 30 years.
Theatre production “The Interview”
On 26 October 2010, the renowned Zurich theatre company “Theater Neumarkt” performed the play “The Interview” to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the “Theater am Kirchplatz”. The production was an anniversary gift to the TaK by the “Friends of the Theater am Kirchplatz Foundation", which is supported by Centrum Bank.
“The Interview” is based on a film by Dutch director Theo van Gogh and is really a chamber play, focusing entirely on its actors. Through the subtle analysis of psychological reactions, the play presents a detailed portrayal of today’s shallow, histrionic world that is presented to us by the media on a daily basis.
Birgit Minichmayer and Sebastian Blomberg, two of the most popular German-language actors at present, were both excellent at exposing the current media culture (or lack of it).
The Vienna Philharmonic visits Vaduz
An unforgettable benefit concert by the Vienna Philharmonic in Vaduz on 28 October 2009 was made possible by the Centrum Bank sponsorship of the “Friends of the Theater am Kirchplatz Foundation". The performance by the world-class orchestra was in memory of the twentieth anniversary of the deaths of Prince Franz Josef II and Princess Gina of Liechtenstein. Prince Franz Josef II was the head of state of Liechtenstein from 1938 until his death in 1989. He and his wife Princess Gina were important role models within the country and were held in high regard by the population.
The concert by the Vienna Philharmonic under the direction of maestro Georges Prêtre was a highlight in the history of classical concerts in Liechtenstein and was a sell-out.
